About Dean Farm Animal Sanctuary
Dean Farm Trust is a local charity with an animal sanctuary just outside of Chepstow. Rescued animals including donkeys, pigs, sheep, cows, goats and ducks are all given a home for life. Like us, Dean Farm Animal Sanctuary believes that all humans and animals are entitled to live a life free from pain and suffering. The seed for Dean Farm Animal Sanctuary was planted in 2004 when founder Mary Frankland researched how animals are brutally used in everyday society and how they are subject to abuse, cruelty and neglect.
Inspired by a number of other charities, and in particular by reading The Silent Ark by Viva!’s Juliet Gellatley and Tony Wardle, her aim was to set up a small sanctuary and campaign to help reduce animal suffering while spreading the message of compassionate living. They help people make cruelty free choices wherever possible as we all have the ability to make informed choices which will improve health, prevent cruelty and protect the environment.
Dean Farm Trust is an organisation that believes in life, compassion and empowerment: all factors that contribute to a sustainable, healthy and cruelty free planet. She has to raise over £1,500 to provide food, veterinary care and the amenities each animal needs.
The sanctuary’s work also includes education by providing information on the exploitation of animals in factory farming, intensive breeding and cruel sports.
