Fawns are baby deer and they have a light reddish-brown coat with spots on their back. For the first six weeks of their life, these spots are used to help camouflage them into their surroundings. Despite their tiny, frail legs, they can actually stand within the first ten minutes of life, and can walk within seven hours! Until they’re able to keep up with their mother, fawns are left in a safe space whilst their mum hunts for food.
Fun Facts:
When fawns become deer, they can run up to 30mph
Deer can jump as high as 10 feet, and as far as 30 feet. That’s as long as a school bus!
